Say Goodnight

As I walk these shores again
Waxing lonely and without a friend
I long to touch your face
Feel the wonder of unknown embrace

Because you're so close and she's so far away
And I want to go running on the beach and play
But then I think of all that came and went
And where there's nothing gained there's nothing spent

        I say goodnight
        I hold me tight
        I cry myself to sleep
And in the morning I can't even weep

And as we walk these San Francisco streets
My heart is pounding like a conga beat
And in my thoughts you're lying in my bed
Raging guilt exploding in my head

But then you laugh and you touch me deep down inside
Until I have nowhere left I can hide
I wish these feelings would just go away
But even more I wish for them to stay

        I say goodnight
        I hold me tight
        I cry myself to sleep
And in the morning I can't even weep
        I say goodnight
        I hold me tight
        I say goodnight
